As The Council’s president and Council Advisors’ managing partner, Doug Haynes offers guidance to public and private companies executives. Ahead of establishing The Council, he had plenty of major roles. His most recent was president at Point72 Asset Management; preceding this, he was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company. In 1992 he began his career with McKinsey, leading the Northeast U.S. division and participating in launching its technology-oriented services enterprise. Before embarking on the 22-year stint at McKinsey & Company, Haynes worked in software manufacturing and design engineering.
Receiving his mechanical engineering degree with the highest honours from West Virginia University endowed Haynes with a strong foundation for subsequent management consulting work. After graduation, he further developed his technical competencies by assuming engineering and software design roles.
Early in his post-graduation years, Haynes initiated an enthusiasm for the corporate environment. In light of this enthusiasm, he was granted a William M. Shermet Scholarship at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia. He regards this remarkable learning opportunity for his transfer to a consulting career in management.
As a key figure in McKinsey & Company for 22 years, Haynes collaborated with varied executive clients from numerous countries. Adapting to the atmosphere of McKinsey, he became a significant member of this cerebral community.
