Grammy Nominee Margie Hauser Discusses The Music Industry

The music industry veteran, Margie Hauser, was born and raised in Miami. She has been in the music industry for over 30 years now and is considered by many to be a master at her craft. After graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in Communications and Marketing, Margie went on to complete her MBA at the same university.

Margie began her career in music at Sony Music, where she spent some time as an A&R scout. It was there that she noticed that the industry was becoming more of a numbers game, and as a result she decided to leave Sony Music. She then went on to work in marketing and management at several companies including Time Warner Entertainment, Interscope Records, MCA Music Entertainment, Virgin Records Group and EMI Music. She has also served as a consultant to the music industry at several different agencies.

Margie Hauser has received many awards throughout her career, including the “Media Woman of the year” award in 1997, an induction as an industry speaker and a keynoter for the National Association of Recording Merchandisers in 2004. She has worked with many artists such as: Lyle Lovett, Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow and Alan Jackson. Currently she is working with newcomer artist Kelly Brogan.
