It was founded in early 2014 as a volunteer-only organization committed to addressing health care problems through technology and innovation. It started as a program that is run by volunteers and has grown into a company with a full-time staff of over 30. The team manages several programs including Hackathons, Startup Weekends and other events that invite tech leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators to collaborate on solving problems in health care.

Currently the organization is looking for additional help with its volunteer program to run events, organize activities, and help with projects. In addition to hiring employees, Health Carousel Leverages Tech also hosts a number of events that bring together different groups of people to create bonds between professionals in the industry. These events include Health Care Hackathons, Startup Weekends and Meetups.
