Kelcy Warren’s Life

Kelcy Warren is an American business executive and philanthropist. He was born on April 19, 1955. Mr. Warren served as the CEO of Energy Transfer Partners in charge of the construction of controversial oil pipelines across North America. He has earned a net worth of $5 billion from his career in the oil industry and currently holds an estimated 13% stake in the company according to Forbes .

In 2012, Warren gave money to universities to fund scholarships for children from low-income families who want to attend college through Houston Community College’s Achieving Academic Excellence at Life Academy. He also gave to the University of Texas and has given around $175 million to various charities such as the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, YMCA, and United Way. He also awarded funding to Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research, which is an institute that studies demographic and urban issues in Houston.

Kelcy was one of the first African Americans hired at Energy Transfer Partners in 2004. He serves as a board member and second largest shareholder of Energy Transfer Partners. In 2013 he was promoted as CEO of Energy Transfer Partners upon the retirement of company founder Lawrence Whalen.

Kelcy Warren is married to his wife Melissa and has five children, Kelcy Warren, Jr., Bridgette Pineda, Wendi Warren, Nicole Forrest and Ross Forrest .Kelcy Warren is known as a man who took steps to become successful independently from anyone else in the oil industry. “Warren is a pioneer in the search for alternative sources of energy,” said author and oil executive Robert H. Bartlett III.

Warren’s initial involvement with Energy Transfer Partners dates back to 2004 when he was hired as an independent director for the company. He has been active within Energy Transfer Partners’ board since 2010 and became its second-largest shareholder after his mother Lula received a stake in the company’s stock when she gave Warren $5 million from her estate.
