Muslim Pro App Strengthens Data Privacy Measures to Protect User Information
In today’s digital age, data privacy concerns are particularly significant for faith-based applications. The Muslim Pro App, serving over 170 million users globally, has implemented robust measures to safeguard sensitive information about religious practices.
Comprehensive Privacy Framework Underpins Muslim Pro App
“In respect of the trust millions of prayers puts in Muslim Pro every day, we are immediately terminating our relationships with our data partners,” the company stated in 2020, emphasizing its commitment to user privacy. Since then, the app has strengthened its data governance policies to ensure users can practice their faith with peace of mind.
The current privacy framework includes never sharing personal user information with third-party vendors, conducting thorough due diligence reviews of potential service providers, and collecting only the minimum amount of information needed for core functionality.
“We have strengthened our policies so much that even within the company, most people will never have access to any of these data,” notes Nafees Khundker, CEO and group managing director.
Location Privacy Central to Muslim Pro App Design
For an app that relies on location data to provide accurate prayer times and Qibla direction, privacy protections are particularly crucial. Muslim Pro’s approach includes storing only a user’s most recent location request rather than maintaining location history.
“If the person says, ‘I am now in Singapore; what are the prayer times here?’ but tomorrow the person is in Indonesia and changes the location, we don’t keep the information for Singapore,” Khundker explains. “We have only the last location the user asked us for.”
Additional safeguards include securely storing backend data on Google Cloud servers with built-in security mechanisms, implementing robust app code security controls, and ensuring compliance with global data protection laws through the OneTrust Consent Management Platform.
The company’s transparency about these measures reflects its understanding of the sensitive nature of religious data. “Faith is something most people probably practice at home. It’s very personal to each individual,” says Khundker.
Through these comprehensive protections, the Muslim Pro team continues to balance technological innovation with respect for user privacy, maintaining trust while delivering essential services to the global Muslim community.
