An ad placed by a landlord in Clapham is raising eyebrows, as real estate agent Nick Millican comments. The ad says that the tenant will be able to rent a room for £400 a month Monday through Friday. The prospective tenant will also be expected to provide childcare for three hours per week.
However, the tenant will not be allowed to live in the room on Saturdays and Sundays. The ad is for an Italian family who needs someone to provide childcare from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m three hours per week. As Nick Millican shares, they stated that they need someone who is both organized and clean.
The ad received a lot of negative comments. It has since been revised. The price has been raised to £600, and it also removed the childcare requirement, Nick Millican informs. He added that Dan Wilson Craw is the deputy chief executive of Generation Rent.
He stated that he was shocked to see such an ad when the housing market is the way that it is. Nick Millican also stated that he does not understand why the room would only be available to rent Monday through Friday.
It may be difficult for someone to find another place to stay on the weekends. Renting can be a nightmare. That is why it is a good idea to have a real estate professional like Nick Millican who can help you decide whether it is a good idea for you to rent.
